Hi folks. Up for auction is our original diner booth set. I cannot be certain. But I believe these date back to the 1940's. I was told it came from a diner in southern Illinois. We purchased the set about 10 years ago, and had been using them in our previous house. I had planned to build a car barn/diner, but that dream has moved on. As much as we hate to sell it, we simply don't have a proper place for them in our new home. I cannot find any part of this set that is not original. It is BEAUTIFUL! The seats are(according to the numerous. Original tags under the seats) cordoba red and tan. The formica tops on the tables appear to be flawless and very neutral, yet attractive. The coat/hat hooks are a neat and rare feature. Looks great with a letterman sweater or jacket hanging on them! ... moreI laid out the set in our basement. And adjusted the position of the tables and seats until I felt it was ultimately comfortable. At this setting, the total length of the set measured 17 feet from end to end. Of course, this can be adjusted up or down according to preference or space available. Unlike many of the booths we have seen, both sides of the seating and tables are completely finished, so they do not have to be positioned against a wall. The set is in incredible condition. Especially considering the age. I would say that if you wanted the set to look"like new" there are three simple and relatively inexpensive things that could be done- have one of the coat racks re-chromed(it is pitting somewhat in about a 6" section, just below the hooks- see photo) replace some or all of the black plastic trim that wraps around the base of the seats near the floor(there are some spots where the pieces have been broken off) and lastly, there is a split in the vinyl in one of the tan bases, under the seat as seen in the photo- maybe this could be filled in with a vinyl repair kit( Having mentioned these three items, the set looks spectacular as-is.
