I bought this analyzer for a 1296 MHz transverter project about a year ago. It has served well for this purpose. Allowing measurement of LO amplitudes and harmonics, mixer performance, and filter shapes. I have since lost interest in this work(preferring HF) so I need to pass it on. The display is bright and sharp. And all of the main features of the instrument work fine with one exception. The plastic part of the Frequency Span/Div knob is missing, with the brass hub remaining. However, due to the interlocking behavior of the Span and Resolution BW knobs, both of these controls can be set any way you want by pushing/pulling the Res BW knob. In fact, most of the time it is best to leave them locked so that the Span and Res BW will track in an optimum fashion. These settings are displayed on ... morethe screen. I have used the analyzer up to about 3 GHz. And the levels and spectrums have been consistent with expected behavior. The input step attenuator and level control also behave in a consistent manner. The storage feature and peak hold appear to be working fine. There are some other features such as the HP-IB connection and rear panel outputs that I have not used. Overall this instrument is in very nice condition. As shown in the pictures. It will be shipped with the front handles installed to protect the controls. Up for bid. A Hewlett-Packard 3561A Dynamic Signal Analyzer equipped with Option 001, in perfect working condition. Unit is sold with power cord only, and no other cables or accessories. This unit's display is bright and sharp, all controls and connectors functioning properly. The front panel is in near-pristine condition, with a minor scuff on the plastic screen over the display(see photo#5 for detail) and there is a scratch on the top of the cabinet(photo#4) but no other exterior damage to unit. Though it works well, the last calibration date of this unit is unknown, so there is no guarantee of calibration accuracy. You are looking at a perfectly working. High end spectrum analyzer from ADVANTEST model R3267. It has better performance and more functions than for example AGILENT 8565EC selling five times its price. It is better performing than the older Advantest R3265 and beats the socks off any Agilent HP 8594E etc. series. It is beyond me why other much less performing spectrum analyzers like the HP859X and even some lower performance Advantest. Anritsu and awful old Tektronix units, sell for high prices here on eBay! when here are these top class units doing so much more and better? Don't throw your money on an outdated HP or Tek unit. This one has the best price performance ratio on eBay by far. You can see 50Hz noise sidebands 90dB down on a microwave signal; try doing this with most other spectrum ... moreanalyzers! The R3267 is very well built and has no known flaws. The IF resolution bandwidth goes from 1Hz to 10MHz with fast sweep times. Allowing for better detail than other spectrum analyzers. Passes all self tests and works well within factory specifications. Has so many advanced functions- impossible to list here; for those unfamiliar with it. Reading the manuals here can be an eye opener. The firmware of the R3267 is user friendly. Has a wealth of useful customizable parameters and functions, like only Advantest were able and willing to develop. This is a later build unit, the firmware is v6 on a removable CF card, unlike the flash rom in the earlier versions. An external VGA monitor can also be hooked up and the R3267 will happily print screens on standard printers. It is in good cosmetic shape and will probably serve you for many more years to come. The 6.5" LCD is ultra high resolution. Bright with a wide viewing angle, allowing for high precision on screen measurements. This analyzer is directly supported by the freeware KE5FX's GPIB toolkit, plots can be downloaded to PC directly and signals monitored in real-time. The excellent Phase Noise Measurement utility from the above toolkit works very well too
