This is a vintage automotive diagnostic meter that would have been mobile enough for the mechanic to hand carry to the vehicle(versus a roll-around) It is listed as"Not Working" simply because it has not been tested. It was working when given to me. But I have not used it for years. One of the leads has some insulation issues, but it would still look great on the tool bench of any Classic or even Muscle Car owner. I recently saw one for sale for $100. Not sure of the actual value, but would like it to go to someone who will enjoy having it.

For sale: This GE type R ammeter came from a local feed store that closed many years ago. And got it from the guy who salvaged it, at the time.It was hooked to an Allen Bradley start-stop box that is in another current listing.The face is 7" across and is 5" deep,and it weighs 11.5 lbs. I took the glass out to check for damage, and the old seal crumbled,so the glass will be in the package separate from the unit. The body of the unit is covered in copper as can be seen in the photos,could be plate, but it looks like some sort of molding process to me.This would great for vintage industrial,or steam punk projects Please ask questions,and look at the photos. This Auction is for a very old General Electric Single-Phase Watthour Meter No. 9539-211 Type. I-14 Cyc. 60 Amp. 15 Volts 220 3 Wire. The item appears to be in original condition having been well cared for over the past 8 0 or so years since it has seen service. This is a vintage early 20th century type I-14 induction residential watt-hour meter dating between 1913- 1927. Clear glass pane protects the four dials. Removal of the two wing nuts allows access to the electrical components. In 1915. GE purchased the fort Wayne electric works which it had wholly owned since 1898 and operated it as an extension of their meter plant in West Lynn, Ma until meter manufacturing was discontinued at Fort Wayne in May 1929. The I-14 was an upgrade from the earlier models(I. I-8 and I-10) since it has much ... moreeasier access to the terminals. In the case of this meter, the tamper/inspection tags are still threaded through the brass wing-nuts and bolts. Still attached on the front side of the meter are the"Notice- Laws of 1909. Section 405. In addition, T here is a"Meter Test Card" dated 4-18-1924. The unit is Numbered 48731 on the front cover. Two of the wire leads have been cut at the housing and the two remaining have had insulation stripped near the terminals(see pic) Aside from the cosmetic wear which comes from normal use and age. It looks to could very well be in working order, although it is untested by me. The unit weighs 8 1/2 lbs and is 5 1/2" wide. 7" long and 4 1/4" deep. General Electric(G.E. watthour meter Type I-16. Single phase, 5 amp, 230 volt, 60 cycle, 3 wire, serial number 14 646 733. The front plate that covers the screws securing the wires is missing. I don't know if this works but it came from an Ohio collection put together by an electrical company worker. Several of the previous meters I sold were reported to work by buyers. I use solid styrofoam to pack the meter and keep it from moving. I've shipped about two dozen of them without incident. FedEx will be used to ship with email notifications sent to the buyer when the meter is at various stages of delivery. Shipping is built into the starting price and the buy-it-now price. I purchased these four meters with other electric meters at an auction. I am listing them together because they are all apparently for automotive use. These meters are described at follows: An electric fuel gauge. The glass is good and the meter needle is properly zeroed. There is no brand name visible. A ammeter with a 100-0-100 scale. It says"AC" at the bottom of the scale. But this must be a brand because this is almost certainly a meter for direct current. The glass is cracked. A nice Stewart-Warner ammeter with a 60-0-60 scale. The meter is in excellent condition. But the bracket is tarnished. A"Handy Charger" ammeter with a 15-0-15 scale. I think all of these are functional. But I cannot fully test them, so I am selling them"as is. This listing is for an antique electric meter that was apparently used for automotive testing sometime in the past. I bought this in a box of other meters at an auction and do not know how it was used. The meter is mounted in a box that is 5" wide. 4" tall, and 1.5" deep. The box has two wires coming out of the top, but neither is marked or color coded. There is no brand name or other identifying markings on this meter. It appears to have a d'Arsonval moving coil movement, and the needle zeros properly and moves freely, so I think it is probably in working condition. The markings on the scale are puzzling to me. Most of these are visible in the second photo. The main scale goes from zero to 220. There is a small scale above it that shows the numbers 7. 9, 11 13, 15, and ... more17. At the bottom of the scale are the notations BAD, EMPTY, and FULL. At the top of the scale, not visible in the photo, is the word FORD at 120 on the main scale, the word FORD again at 155, and the word Lincoln at 190 on the main scale. This suggests that the meter was used for working on Ford Motor Company Cars. I refer to this as my"mystery meter. but perhaps you know how it was used. If so, please share that information with me so that I can share it with other buyers. Even if you do not know what it is for, you might want to buy it as an interesting conversation piece or perhaps a paperweight! I only ship to addresses in the United States. They were all purchased or given to my grandfather who was a very avid collector of all things radio. It may be from cars, military, fire, police, and personal use. He grew up in the depression and had a love for radios when he was a child. So much of a love that he began his own two way communications business in Connecticut which turned into being one of the largest in the North East. When he wasn't running his company he was a local disc jockey, HAM radio operator, and a classic radio, car, and firetruck restorer. He took very good care of all of his radios and enjoyed selling them to people who were as passionate ... moreabout them as he was. When he retired he came up with various different companies that he used to sell his radios and tubes. A year ago he had passed and I was given the chance to run his company: Classic Radios.
