I've had this meter in my collection since about 1970. In 1996 I wrote to the company that acquired Weston Instruments' portable line” asking for information about this meter. In reply. I received two photocopies of pages from the 1923 catalog. These photocopies may be seen in the photo gallery and will accompany the meter. In a recent search. I found Google has archived a scan of the 1920 periodical“Electrical World” Volume 76, Number 3) An ad for Weston Instruments appears on page 108. You can see the Model 14 in the lower left-hand corner. On the meter's face. It says“Res 251Ω” I measured the sensitivity of the unit at about 2 micro-amperes per division. This agrees with the catalog information that specifies the galvanometer with 250-ohm resistance has a sensitivity of 2x10-6 ... moreamperes per millimeter. The divisions appear to be about a millimeter apart) The unit measures approximately 3” x 4” x 6” and weighs nearly 4 pounds. Old Estate Find. This vintage portable watthour meter is 6 ½ tall x 5 ½ wide x 5 ¼ deep. It has an outlet on the side to plug in a device and a knife switch on the front. The dial on the front has a face that reads zero to twenty kilowatt hours with SANGAMO logo with arrow indicator and power wheel. Dial glass has been replaced with a thin sheet of plastic some time in the past. It has some tears in it. Top handle is missing. Painted white some time in the distant past also. I am not certain what type of gauge this is. The backing has lost its clarity. The needle sits in the center. On the bottom of the gauge there is a plate that says"Adjust Zero" The housing of the gauge is copper. The gauge measures about 3.5 inches in diameter at its widest point. Type I-14, 60 cycle, 2 wire, 10 amps, 110 volts, 114 781 78(I presume to be the serial number) I am NOT an electrician. So I have no idea what any of this means. Nor do I know if it works, which is why I listed as non-working-for parts. Research indicates this type meter was 1st made around 1915. Don't know if that is when this was made, all I know is it looks old. Research also indicates this meter consists of a hollow cast iron casting, finished in original enamel black finish. The reinforced glass case is held down with 2 original cast brass wing nuts. The cover swings out when access is needed to the terminals. Other than old looking. Meter appears to be in decent shape. The glass cover is in ... morebeautiful shape. Clean with no cracks or breaks. It has 4 hole openings on the bottom, 2 for line, 2 for load.
