Wow. Here we have a Radiation Survey Meter Model SU-1 made by Tracerlab in Boston. Massachusetts. Based on my research, this was the first commercial version of a Tracerlab"Cutie Pie. An advertisement for this Tracerlab"Cutie Pie" first appeared in the 1948(p.68) issue of Nucleonics. The operating manual for this meter( which I do not have) apparently describes the meter as a"Portable Radiation Instrument. The meter is in very good shape. I popped the side cover off and took pictures of the inside. It appears that everything is there and in good order. The battery compartment inside is clean as well since someone must have emptied it before storage. If you look closely. You'll see Philips head machine screws holding the side covers in place. When I got the meter, all ... morethese screws were missing, so I replaced them. I suppose if you wanted to be more correct, you would change them to flat head. This is a vintage scintillation detection instrument manufactured in the 1950s by Quality Instruments for the Atomic Energy comission. Model# 111B AEC# SBX-11A Serial# 211 HB 4539. It is a complete unit except for the batteries. Adjustment pot covers are missing and the original check source is not present. It is sold as is. I had purchased this one and another with the intent of restoring them both. I am cleaning out the house, it must go.
