This rare cast iron stuffer was the first or at least one of the first, 2 quart stuffers of this style made by Enterprise. The letters in the arch are cast open (see through). None of the cast parts have casting numbers. The brass stuffing tube is marked patent pending. The later brass tubes were stamped with a 1906 date. Soon after this was made, they added casting numbers and made the arch without the open letters. This stuffer is complete and in excellent condition and includes the original press plates, berry basket, strainer plates, stuffing tube and nut.

It just makes it more sanitary when the sausage stays inside the press when you crank down on it, keeping the sausage from oozing out the side of the plate. Just fill the stuffer as usual, lay the gasket on top of the sausage and crank down, the gasket acts like a spatula wiping the sides and keeping most of the the sausage from leaking out around the plate.
