This is a number 5 two quart Enterprise Sausage Stuffer and Lard press. This is a very old press and it has no spout or nut or large plate. It does have the small plate and the bottom plate and the screen. This has been cleaned and painted and is in very good shape. I think the number 5 was the first two quart made by Enterprise and it is different than the later ones. The handle has some nicks in it as shown. This is marked Pat July 11. 1876. This brochure is a single piece four page pamphlet format printed on slick glossy paper with engravings of the sausage stuffer on the front and back cover panels. This brochure is not dated but looks to be from the 1890s so I'd date it to around 1895 or so. The machine is titled C.W. Hottman's Patent Steam Stuffer and the R.T. Randall& Company of Philadelphia is listed as sole agents. This brochure indicates that these machines came in either 100 pound or 200 pound capacity models and gives the features and benefits of these sausage stuffers which included"no possibility of water or oil getting ... moreinto meat" The brochure also indicates"in use by ALL Packers and large butchers in the City of Philadelphia" This brochure is an original antique published around 1895 and is fully complete and in very good shape overall. Exactly like Grandma used to use. Made in the USA and of cast iron. It can be the new family heirloom for generations to come. This unit holds 8 liquid quarts which equates to approximately 16 pounds of meat. Unit quickly disassembles for easy cleaning and comes with a single 3/4" plastic spout(hog casings) but other spouts are available below. The Standard model is primarily for stuffing sausage, whereas the Deluxe model doubles as a fruit and lard press and comes additionally with a stainless steel strainer basket, smaller plunger plate& a perforated plate: Possibly the oldest name in USA-made sausage stuffers and grinders would be Enterprise Manufacturing. Now known as Chop-Rite. There are still Enterprise stuffers and grinders in use today, some over 100 years old! They are built ... moreto last and are made of cast iron and other quality materials from the original designs. Bought in the mid-1900's, the Enterprise Manufacturing company was renamed to Chop-Rite Mfg. Using the same design as the original Enterprise stuffers and grinders, parts are interchangeable with the older equipment. This Chop-Rite is used and shows signs of wear. But it is still in overall excellent condition, especially considering its age. The only things of consequence to mention are that there is a little rust on different components of the unit. Everything I know to remove rust shouldn’t be used on food preparation items, so I haven’t cleaned it off. I would recommend you plan to thoroughly clean this item prior to use, just like you should with all food preparation items. This unit sells for $600, if you can even find them anymore. I have up for sale wonderful antique circa early 1900s Landers. Frary, Clark UNIVERSAL 8 Quart Sausage Stuffer/ wine, fruit, lard,cider,press. It comes complete with all the accessories: both the large and small press plates, strainer basket and bottom plate, horn spout and lock nut,etc. This is a Top of the Line Outfit, none nicer than this model. Its all original and in just superb shape. The small plate is approx 7-7/8" and the large plate approx 8-1/8" the small one fits inside the basket, obviously the larger one does not. The stuffer is in Outstanding Original Condition! There are no damages: no breaks. No cracks, no repairs, etc-the paint appears to be original and is in great shape. There is some normal minor light wear as one would expect but overall its a dandy. The stuffer ... morecranks easily and smoothly. This is a very easy stuffer to clean because the tub removes so easily. All you have to do is unlock the side latch and spin it out. I would advise screwing the feet down on a nice solid wood board, to make the base less tippy. This is a big and heavy piece. It weighs approx 51 as you see it. I will package with great care. It will be double boxed and sent fully insured- a Signature will be required to receive. You are bidding on a Early Enterprise#5 2 Quart Sausage Stuffer Fruit/Lard Press. This is a rare early version with ratchet type screw. Enterprise Mfg. Co. Cast Iron. This type of ratchet screw is very hard to find and it is the smallest of the Enterprise presses. It is approximately 14" tall with the ratchet screwed down to it's lowest point. I broke this down and gave it an electrolysis cleaning and it is in very good shape with no cracks or breaks or repairs anywhere. I gave it a light seasoning inside the bucket as you would a cast iron skillet. This piece is ready for use or make a nice conversation piece. This may be broke down for shipping. Here I have a vintage sausage press from the Enterprise mfg. company with NO RESERVE! This was found in my grandfathers garage and is sold as is. The best I can tell is that it comes from the late 1800s. It does not include the strainer plate or strainer basket that originally came with it. It does come with the nozzle and coupler that goes on the front of it. I'm not sure the nozzle is useable. It's pretty bent up(see pics) There's some rust that would need to be addressed to restore it but otherwise it's in good shape and it seems to operate normally. This is all I can really tell you about it but if you have any question feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer.
