My father bought this meter long ago and I inherited it. I rarely used it and not in many years. It powers up but I didn't test it; I doubt it still provides accurate measurements. The parts are now very old and I'm sure it is in need of a good parts refresh and calibration. Cosmetically it is ok but not great.

Electrically, all functions appear to work normally. The AC voltmeter, manual and automatic distorsion measurement functions were tested with an HP 8904A signal generator. In automatic mode, the unit measured a distorsion of-66 dB for a 1 kHz sinewave with 1 V peak amplitude. This is about 3 dB below the specified distorsion level for the HP 8904A. The measured voltage is 0.7 Vrms. The distorsion measurement of an AM RF signal was tested with a Panasonic VP-8179P AM/FM signal generator. The output terminals with a 0.1 Vrms full scale was monitored by an oscilloscope. I pressed the run button and numbers displayed as seen in the photo. No testing was performed. Tape residue is on the case shown in last photo. This RTA runs fine. But must be plugged into the AC power line to operate. Internal batteries are probably original, and would need to be replaced for portable operation.
