You are bidding on a General Radio portable sound level meter with fold-out collectible microphone. This is a pretty cool vintage meter. One of the nicest I've seen. The meter does not appear to be working. At least I can't generate any meter movement with it plugged in and trying different input settings. The battery contacts inside have some corrosion(no battery present) that needs to be cleaned up, and the shielded box inside that houses the tube componentry needs to be remounted as a couple of the isolation bushings that hold it in place have disintegrated with age. Probably not a difficult repair, and the peanut tube(or tubes, I didn't look inside the shielded box so not sure if there is more than one) and microphone have value on their own. If you're reading this description. You are most likely aware of this items rarity and value. Condition: This 300A is extremely clean and almost 100% complete. The only thing that I can find missing is the bottom front trim piece of oak. There are a few scratches on the wood and a small amount of staining at the bottom of one side(pictured) There are a few scratches here and there on the metal face plate(pictured) But that's about as ... morebad as the condition gets. Again, this piece is extremely clean! We tested all of the ORIGINAL TUBES and all but one tested fine. Which was replaced. The unit powers on and all of the tubes light up. We tried to test it but were unsure of how to do it 100% We followed protocol to calibrate it but didn't get very far. The bottom AC Volts gauge moves when certain knobs are turned. But the top Millivolts gauge barely moves at all. Barely. Therefore. I cannot be certain of the working condition of this item and I am selling it AS IS. However. I am unfamiliar with this meter and do not know if it is working properly. It had no batteries in it and so I put 2 new 9 volt batteries in. Please see the photos of the meter; one with switch in battery position and the other with the switch in test position with the calibrator turned on. Calibrator makes a tone when turned on and meter does read the noise level. With the calibrator on the end of the mic the meter read just over 9 in the 100 db position. With the switch in the battery position it reads only just over 2. I have no instructions or manual for use. This is sold as is and complete with all items shown plus 2 new 9 volt batteries. Also included in the auction is the calibrator adapter insert and the molded plastic carrying case. I ran a calibration of the noise dosimeter using the CA-32 as described in the user's manual. The user's manual states that the M-7B readout following the calibration should be between 1.64 and 2.15 with 1.87 being the ideal target value. Quest Electronics 211A/FS Sound Level Meter For sale- a Quest Electronics 211A/FS Sound Level Meter. Typically referred to as an SPL meter, plus the CA-12 Calibrator. The batteries in the SPL meter were a bit low. One of them so much so that I won’t be shipping it with the meter. I put fresh batteries in the CA-12 and as you can see with the 211A set on 110dB it almost reads 0 which would be the desired result. If I had to guess with a fresh set of batteries in the 211A it would probably be right on the money. But I can’t preclude the possibility that it will need to be re-calibrated prior to being placed in service. So in addition to the 211A and CA-12 plus the padded case you will get 2 fresh 9 volt batteries plus one that measures a bit over 8 volts. So you will need at least one 9 volt ... morebattery and the results would no doubt be better if you had two fresh ones.
