Up for auction i s this used HP 8563A Spectrum Analyzer 9 kHz to 26.5 GHz. This has option H51. I have powered this up. The command buttons respond correctly. I do not have the means to test this further. There are some scratches and a lot of sticker residue. There are a couple of small dents on the top. Please refer to the pictures for more detail. First please understand I am not an expert with this type of equipment. So my description here will reflect a bit of ignorance I'm sure but will do the best I can. The nominal frequency range according to a manual I found online is 1 MHz- 1.5 GHz. The display only turns up to 1.255 GHz. Am guessing that is a problem. I see signals in the AM& FM ranges and am able to use those settings to demodulate and here audio freq. Quality is not great at all but understandable. There is one photo showing a single very high carrier peak signal. I think this must be internally generated because when I remove the antenna it does not attenuate. When I touch the antenna I see some sideband signals off of that center freq. Don't know what to make of that. The led MHz display will not show below ... more2 even when at the lowest point but does eventually dial up appropriately. I would think it should show 1 when it is showing AM signals. The paint on the case is very worn and scratched. So cosmetically it is not in great shape. Would say it's seen some service in its day! I've take some pics up and down the spectrum to show that it does seem to show signals. The various settings. Reference and scan-width seem to work. All of that said I have no doubt this unit is in need of service. So this auction is intended for someone who is able to address any technical deficiencies that are found upon receipt. I am not selling this as a perfectly working unit but rather one that seems to be working to some extent. Shipping will be in USA only via UPS. Shipping weight after being double-boxed should be around 32 pounds.
