This auction is for a tuned ready for use filter designed for a commercial band around 6 GHz that I have retuned for 5760 MHz. The measured insertion loss is a nominal 1 dB. To give you an idea of the quality of this filter a 5616 MHz(local oscillator frequency) signal of the same signal strength was measured to be down-55 dB. I measured those number using only a HP signal generator and HP spectrum analyzer. Not a transverter. The filter is machined from a block of brass and the entire filter has been silver plated. As you can see in the photo there is a bit of tarnishing on of the silver on the outside. To give you an idea of the quality of construction, the filter weighs just under one pound, There are two tapped holes on the back and also the bottom of the filter for chassis mounting. As ... moreyou can see in the photo, there is a total of 11 elements to be tuned allowing for optimum performance. It took some time to get to the results I achieved. This is a rare item for the serious collector of high end receiver stuff. Historical in nature. This is a military nomenclatured receiver R-1757/USQ-54V, really a Watkins Johnson- CEI Division radio type WJ-525. I bet VERY few people have seen one of these in the flesh! It looks like a nice little box, 2U high, all solid state, covers 54-260 MHz, tape dial readout for tuner. Has a built in spectrum display unit(SDU) with settable sweep widths of.1,3,1& 3 MHz for analysis and Speaker. This thing works, but sensitivity is low, I traced it to the third stage in the tuner, no signal amplication, so probably a dead transistor or open bias resistor. The SDU tube has an open filament it is common type 3ASP1, also may need some other SDU work as gov't monkeys were poking around in there. It looks like it was for monitoring sonobouys, as it has predetection downconversion built in as well as a host of back panel jacks to access LO, AM and FM video, etc. The basic IF bandwidth is 100 KHz.
